Black Women Photographers Organization

It has been an honor to be a part of the Black Women Photographers Organization, founded by Polly Irungu, for the past year! The global group of talented black photographers has been vital in pushing black female and non-binary photographers to the forefront of the photography community and giving us countless opportunities to share our art with the masses.

This group is beyond supportive and goes above and beyond in celebrating each other's work. BWP is also big on education and strives on creating various workshops, training sessions and portfolio reviews to build and grow.

Personally, I've had several memorable moments with the Black Women Photographers group and thought it was important to give Polly and BWP the flowers that they deserve! One of these moments includes hosting an Adobe Photoshop Color Grading Workshop for the BWP members. After that session, it sparked something in me to continue my journey in photography education with the new generation of artists and finally launch www.jessyjphotoeducation.com

I have also had the opportunity to be a part of the panel of BWP judges that helped select talented members from the community to receive various grants and camera equipment through Nikon. $50,000 in grants and equipment were distributed to 12 extremely talented photographers to help with their creative endeavors and fund various projects.

Lastly, I have to thank Polly for sharing my work with the Adobe Lightroom team. With her support, I was given the opportunity to create premium presets for the Adobe Lightroom community. I now have the "Edgy" preset pack that you can now use in Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Camera Raw in Photoshop. This has been pivotal in my photography career!

This tribe of black creatives has been nothing short of amazing. If you are looking for a female photographer community to join I highly recommend Black Women Photographers. To apply go to: https://blackwomenphotographers.com/
